Keeper’s Quarters - Cabin 1
If you are a fan of lighthouses you have come to the right place, the Keeper’s Quarters is decorated to reflect your duties as the keeper of West Virginia’s only working lighthouse which you can see from your front deck. The Keeper’s Quarter’s sleeps up to 6 and features a private bedroom with King bed, double bed in the Loft, futon couch, and a jetted tub and shower. Satellite TV with premium channels. Heat and A/C. Front and covered rear deck with 6 person hot tub, gas grill, fire-pit. Pet friendly. All utensils and linens included.
Angler’s Rest - Cabin 2
This cabin has a fishing and nautical theme and has been popular with people coming to the lake for boating and fishing. Angler’s Rest has a private bedroom with Queen bed, a ship’s ladder leads up to 2 Twin beds in the Loft, Futon couch (Sleeps up to 6), and shower/tub. Satellite TV with premium channels. Heat and A/C. Front and rear decks, gas grill, fire-pit. Pet friendly. All utensils and linens included.
The Bird’s Nest – Cabin 3
We have all types of birds flying around the Retreat so thought it appropriate to name one of cabins after them. We hope you enjoy the décor inspired by our fine feathered friends. This cabin features a private bedroom with Queen bed, stairs lead to 2 Twin beds in loft, Futon Couch (Sleeps up to 6), shower/tub. Handicap accessible ramp and entranceway, main floor, bedroom and bathroom have wide doorways with space to maneuver a wheelchair. The shower/tub is not handicap accessible. Satellite TV with premium channels. Heat and A/C. Front and rear decks, gas grill, fire pit. Pet friendly. All utensils and linens included.
Sugar Pine Place - Cabin 4
With great views overlooking the west ridge this cabin represents everything we love about living in the Appalachian Mountains. Sugar Pine Place has a private bedroom with Queen bed, 2 Full beds upstairs in loft, Futon Couch (Sleeps up to 8), Hot tub on private covered rear deck, Swing and seating on covered front deck. Handicap-accessible with front ramp entrance and wide doors. Shower has limited handicap accessibility. Satellite TV with premium channels. Fireplace and A/C. Three Bear’s Den - Cabin 5
Sitting far back on our west ridge this is probably the most likely to place to see a bear at the Retreat but even if you don’t the décor will make you feel like you did. Three Bear’s Den features a private bedroom with King bed, 2 Full beds upstairs in loft, Futon Couch (Sleeps up to 8), Hot tub on private covered rear deck, Swing and seating on covered front deck. Satellite TV with premium channels. Fireplace and A/C. Front and rear decks, gas grill, firepit. Pet friendly. All utensils and linens included.
Chalet Cabins
Privately nestled in the trees along our western ridge, these West Virginia chalet-style cabins are more like private homes and include everything you need for a wonderful getaway with friends or family. Each cabin has it’s own identity so you can choose from the Three Bears Den, Sugar Pine Place, Bird’s Nest, Angler’s Rest, or the Keeper’s Quarters.
We provide all the amenities to make you feel right at home. Every cabin has a refrigerator, oven, microwave, coffee station, cookware and utensils. Outside there are firepits, picnic tables, and gas grilles. The beds are comfy and all the linens and towels are provided. Just bring your clothes and food and we provide the rest!
Made from locally milled Appalachian Hemlock you will get a true taste of West Virginia when staying with us. Use your cabin as a base camp for exploring the area and return home to enjoy a fire in your private firepit or relax in your own hot tub. Tastefully decorated to compliment your stay at the lake, you won’t want to leave.
Open year round!
Your choice of King or Queen size bed in the private downstairs bedrooms and the lofts upstairs have either full size beds or twin beds for the kids, one even has a ship’s ladder entry! All linens, are provided. We have cabins that are handicap accessible and all are pet friendly.
Our housekeeping staff prepares everything to make sure your cabin is fully equipped, incredibly clean, and ready for your stay. Hang out on the decks, relax in a hot tub or grill up some steaks, then sit around the fire and roast marshmallows come evening.

Earth Cabin
Earth is a classical element that represents consistency, security, and physical power. Green and brown textures reflect the earth’s grass, trees and soil. After you spend a day out exploring the beautiful scenery in this part of West Virginia, this cabin gives you a spot to reflect and relax.
Air Cabin
The air element represents logic, reason, and creativity and focuses on the free spirit of wind and air. The décor is designed to help you connect with the fresh West Virginia mountain air and gentle breezes coming off of Summersville lake.
Water Cabin
Of the four elements, water is considered the most calming and is meant to symbolize a calming lifestyle. If you are looking to spend some time boating, swimming or just relaxing at Summersville lake, this cabin will provide you with inspiration and a place to relax after a fun filled day.
Fire Cabin
Fire is the element that represents energy and optimism and is considered the most powerful of the elements. You will feel energized by the decorations of this cabin and be prepared to head out and hike the trails then come home and relax by the fire.
Tiny Cabins
Our new 200 sq ft tiny Amish-built cabins will be available to rent for the 2022 season. Each has a different elemental theme – you can choose earth, air, fire or water. These are designed with the “glamper” in mind – it is still camping in nature but now you have a comfy place to sleep and a roof over your head. With plenty of access to nature these are situated in our private north forest area under a canopy of trees with outside decks, firepits, and seating and your own parking space. The view out every window is trees and beautiful scenery.
Each tiny cabin has a queen bed, futon couch/bed, and loft for the kids including pillows and linens. Ideal for two adults with two kids and a dog. Open the windows, turn on the ceiling fan and enjoy the fresh mountain air. There is no running water or bathroom in these cabins but a central bathroom with water is located right across the path from the cabins.
Wifi doesn’t work in the woods but you will have cell phone reception. All of cabins are dog friendly and the earth and fire cabins even include a fenced area for your dogs. These are right across from our new hammock hangout and the forest firepit. Of course you are just a short walk from our main bathrooms, shower house, playground, and trails. We have onsite housekeeping that ensures your cabin is clean and ready when you arrive. We offer free delivery of firewood and ice from our store too!
