We feel our cancellation policy is one of the most liberal of any campgrounds. We keep our policy very basic so that we can meet the needs of 99% of our guests. Please read our policy carefully as we follow these rules:
- All cancellations for any reservation must be made by calling the office during normal business hours. Email cancellations are not accepted.
- No refunds or credits for any site deposits for cancellations involving Holidays or other designated Special Event weekends.
- Greater than 30 days’ notice must be given to receive a refund (less a $25 admin fee).
- Less than 30 days but greater than 14 days’ notice must be given to get a credit (less a $25 admin fee).
- No refunds or credits with less than 14 days’ notice.
- Credits must be used within one year of the date on which they are issued.
- No refunds/credits are given for early departures or “no-shows”.
Please understand that we cannot be held responsible for weather, illness, work schedules, or other situations outside of our control and therefore, enforce our cancellation policy regardless of circumstances. For these reasons we strongly recommend travelers insurance. For more information look at the plans offered by https://www.allianztravelinsurance.com
SLR does offer a variety of travel, promotional, and package discounts.
As these change from time to time we keep a list of all current offers on our main booking page. Simply click the BOOK NOW button from our website and scroll to the bottom of that first page to see what we are offering.
We also have numerous discounts available for our guests. These can change over time but include boat and watercraft rental discounts, discounts on tow fees, reduced costs on firewood, etc. Please inquire at the office prior to or upon your arrival.
We do have numerous discounts available for our guests! These can change over time but include boat and watercraft rental discounts, discounts on tow fees, reduced costs on firewood, etc. Most of these pop up automatically if you add them while doing an online booking but feel free to inquire at our store prior to or upon your arrival.
You can select a specific site with our booking software however we reserve the right to move your site prior to your visit. You can elect to lock your favorite site so that it is guaranteed during your stay for an additional fee. We recommend locking your site if you are meeting others here or just want to ensure that you have the view that you like.
We overlook Summersville Lake and have a fantastic view of the lake but we do not have direct access. The closest access to the lake for swimming, fishing, or boating is approximately 1.2 miles from our entrance. There is a fantastic view of our lighthouse from the lake when you are out there.
Yes, we love pets! We have lots of open space and trails to run and walk your doges and have pet waste areas located around the property. We have one of the largest dog parks of any campgrounds in the country at over 15,000sf. A few of our Tiny Cabins even have fenced yards for your own private dog play areas. We ask that you be considerate of other guests with your pets and keep them under your control at all times and leashed if you are outside of your camper or cabin. We have some crates available if you need to leave your pets for an extended period or we can refer you to local boarding for them. Please leave any aggressive animals at home.
We do have quiet hours from 10pm through 7am. Most of our sites are spaced out so that you can have privacy but please keep the music and loud noises down during these times.
Our campground does have an entrance gate that requires a passcode to access the property. We also have Campground hosts on site at all times and have a night time number for our guests to call for assistance.
We have a nice gift shop and are in process of expanding our store. Currently we have items such as ice, drinks, firewood, and some camping and personal items. Our gift shop carries lots of great locally made WV items, lighthouse gifts, toys for the kids, etc. The most common purchases are for our super soft T-shirts, stickers and magnets, and local WV products such as Dave’s Maple Syrup or Appalachian Glass ornaments. We also handle walk in reservations and rent kayaks, canoes, and Stand up Paddleboards from our store.
Just across the highway from us is a Dollar General and a U Save Travel Plaza that have most of the food and supplies you might need. Camper essentials could also be found at U Save Travel Plaza, just down the hill from our entrance. Two minutes down Summersville Lake Road in the other direction Fat Eddies has your favorite ice cream. To fill a large grocery list or find a specialty item, the town Summersville is only ten minutes North on US 19 where you will find the local Food Lion and WalMart Shopping Plaza.
There are lots of great restaurants in the area with a variety of local flavors. Just 10 minutes down the road in Summersville you will find casual eating at Maloneys Bar for some great wings and local beers, or try the Local for fantastic burgers. You might want to hit up the Gad Dam Brewery for a beer and ask them how Summersville lake got its name. Want something more formal try the Vault on Main for a great dining experience. Just looking for a fun night out, try the Tractor Bar in Mount Nebo. Looking for some ice cream, its very close and very good at Fat Eddies. Check out our WV Adventures page for more details on each of these places and more.
There is something for everyone here! New River Gorge National Park is a big attraction and lots of folks like to visit the bridge for some amazing views. Some of our favorite stops within 30 minutes of us are Cathedral Falls, Hawks Nest State Park, Babcock State Park, the Gauley National Recreation Area, Meadow River, and of course, Summersville Lake.
We do offer deals on weeklong stays, (stay six nights and the seventh free), and we encourage folks to stay and relax as long as they like, but we do not offer long term rates, nor do we allow any type of permanent structures to be erected on the sites. However, you can stay as long as your site is paid for and as long as it is available.
We don’t have any camper or long-term boat storage available but you can store your boat on site with us while you are camping here.
Our recreation area is centrally located near the shower house and within easy walking distance to most of the sites. Our playground has a giant wooden pirate ship with slides, swings, and a fantastic view from the top. There are also swings, a teeter totter, rock walls and sandbox canoe. You’ll also find ping pong, tetherball, horseshoes, and it seems that nobody can walk by the cornhole courts without being drawn in . . . it’s addicting. We don’t have a pool because the Summersville Lake swimming beach is just down the road from our entrance.
The Hammock Hangout is an area in our north forest that has a variety of hammocks, hanging chairs, and areas to relax. Feel free to use them while you are here as a guest of SLR!
Take a left when leaving SLR and head 2 miles down the road to Battle Run Recreation Area. You will find a public beach with parking and bathrooms there.
The closest and most convenient lake access on the South side of Summersville Lake is just over 2 miles down Summersville Lake Road at the Battle Run Recreation Area.
We can transport the boats to the lake for you! Prior to your booking please contact our office to arrange this. We will set a prearranged time to take you to the lake, help load, set up, and launch your boat. You will just call us when you are ready to be picked up and we will meet you to pick up the boat and return it to SLR. We can only launch the boats at Battle Run recreation area.
For the vehicles with sports rack or luggage racks, rigging a paddle boat on top is a snap, and for other vehicles we have foam blocks that we keep on hand. We will offer assistance getting it loaded on your vehicle. We also have a small trailer for rent that can transport multiple kayaks if your vehicle has towing capability.
